Background

Orienteering is a sport requiring participants to navigate themselves through unfamiliar terrain by visiting checkpoints, known as controls, in the correct order using a map. The aim is to correctly complete the course in the shortest time.

In 2018 there are a number of events planned for Wellington schools. These are held on Sundays, approximately every two weeks from 25 Feb to 10 June.

Training

Once a week in terms one and two

Uniform

PE top & PE shorts
Polyprop and leggings (provided by the college)
College tracksuit for all students traveling to North Island and
National events.

Competitions

25 Feb-10 June – SW Championship Series

1 April – NZ SS Rogaine Champs, Hawkes Bay

27-29 April – NISS Orienteering Champs, Kapiti/Manawatu

19-21 July – NZSS Orienteering Champs, Christchurch
