Background

Here at Newlands College, we provide opportunities for all rugby players to play our national game. We aim to field a Junior and a Senior boys side each year, with players unable to fit into these sides given the opportunity to play for a neighbouring school. Our 1st XV made the top 4 of Premier 3 and the Co-ed Cup in 2022, as well as winning the Fairplay Cup in our traditional fixture with Onslow College. We also look to enter 7’s sides into the summer regional tournament.

Training

Preseason training will commence towards the end of Term one. Teams usually train twice weekly after school. Please keep an eye out for pre season training in the daily notices.

Uniform

Royal blue rugby shorts (to be purchased from NZ Uniforms)

Rugby socks (to be purchased from NZ Uniforms)

Rugby jersey (provided by the college)

College tracksuit

Clean rugby boots

Equipment Requirements

Mouth guard must be worn (Blue/Red Mouth Guard available from Sports Office)

Competitions

CSW Boys competition played on Saturdays

CSW Girls competition played on Wednesday
