Active Lockdown

Welcome to the Newlands College Active Lockdown Page where we have put together links to plenty of ways of remaining active during the lockdown without breaking the rules. We will post more links as they come through to us.

No doubt many of you are already taking the opportunity to spend time walking or running with your bubble and if you have a dog in your bubble they are probably loving all the extra walks and attention they are getting. If you out on your own why not think about learning on the go and downloading a podcast to listen to.

Whilst you are at home have a look for those exercise accessories that you never got round to using and dust off that Wii Console or other fitness games to see if are as still as much fun as you remember.

Shut Up and Dance

Shut Up and Dance isn’t about being good at dancing. It’s 100% about participating, letting go and having fun. The concept is simple: you are taught the steps, one by one, to a song but you have to wait until you’ve learnt all of the moves before you find out which banging pop number you’ll be dancing to.

Shut Up and Dance are generously offering free online dance classes every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 5pm, Tuesday and Thursday at 7pm and Saturdays at 10am on Instagram (@shutupanddancenz). Clair, Lesa and Abby (founders of Shut Up and Dance) hope that these free, live sessions will make you sweat and smile and help you get through this strange time.
