It was a successful day for a number of the Newlands College Athletes who attended the recent Western Zone Athletics Championship.
In the junior events Tui-Aroha Fransen took out the Long Jump and the High Jump whilst Conor Wilson finished 3rd in the High Jump.
At the intermediate grade Victoria Green took out the 200m and 400m double and was joined by Alani Butters, Kushla Smith and Eleanor Strawbridge to convincingly win the 4 x 100m relay. Kushla also did well in the field events winning the Discus and coming runner up in the Shot Putt.
Finally at the senior level Ben Murdoch took out both the jump events and Lateefah Idris won the Discus and finished runner up in the Javelin.
Next up for these students is the Regional Athletics Championships.
