The school can be proud of the Junior athletes who attended the recent Junior Triangular between Onslow, Tawa and Newlands that took place at Onslow College on Thursday May 12.
Our day started with the Cross Country relay, according to Mr Grimwood, the Convenor both the boys and girls races were extremely close with only seconds between all 3 teams. Unfortunately in both races we ended up 3rd but it could been a different story as for example Alex Thompson posted the quickest time of the day in the boys race.
As usual our Y9 and Y10 netballers dominated the opposition with 2 good victories whilst our Junior Girls Basketballers took their good early season form into the day by winning both their games.
In the other sports where the school is up against Onslow and Tawa teams that have significantly more students to pick their team from we struggled to match up but as always the teams continued to fight. The Badminton boys came 2nd and in boys basketball, girls badminton, boys and girls football and hockey the teams came 3rd.
Overall the points totals were as follows:
Tawa 32
Onslow 27
Newlands 13
Hopefully next year with home advantage Newlands will regain the trophy
