Background

Orienteering is a sport requiring participants to navigate themselves through unfamiliar terrain by visiting checkpoints, known as controls, in the correct order using a map. The aim is to correctly complete the course in the shortest time.

In 2019 there are a number of events planned for Wellington schools. These are held on Sundays, approximately every two weeks from March 17 to 10 June.

Training

Once a week in terms one and two

Uniform

PE top & PE shorts
Polyprop and leggings (provided by the college)
College tracksuit for all students traveling to North Island and
National events.

Competitions

March 17 – Have a Go Event, Hutt River

31 March – 30 June – CSW Championship Series

18—20 July – NISS Orienteering Champs, Hawkes Bay

23 – 25 August – NZSS Orienteering Champs, Auckland
