2 siblings have had success at the recent National Shotokan Karate Federation Championship and training in Auckland last month. The training was taken by Shihan Takahashi, 9 Dan black belt from Japan.
Bryn Gates is a brown belt, and placed 3rd in Kumate. (fighting)
Mackenzie Gates is an orange belt, and place 1st in Kumate, and 2nd in Kata.
When competing they are against people of similar height, and belt.
