Netballers finish 14th at Nationals

Our Netballers did the school proud in their first appearance at the National Secondary Schools Netball Tournament last week in Palmerston North.

In pool play Newlands beat St Andrews first up (42-38) before losing to eventual runners up St Margarets (30-42) and St Kentigerns (21-45). This meant we finished 3rd in the pool.

In post pool play, the girls lost 42-30 to Waimea before convincingly beating Palmerston North Girls 42-21. In a close next game the girls lost 39-30 to Southland Girls High. This left them in a play off for 13/14 where they lost to Avondale College (45-36).

This was a fantastic achievement for the school who were the second smallest co-ed school at the tournament with the majority of schools being girls only.

Thanks to Ms Dorricott, Ms Mills and Ms Meinders for their hard work leading up and at the tournament.
