The Newlands 1st XI and Intermediate XI was both victorious in their games at the weekend.
Newlands 1st XI batted first against Paraparaumu and scored 185 all out with Oli Powdrell top scoring with 57 and Tahana Firmin batting down the order scoring 46. In reply the Chafe brothers combined for 5 wickets with Alex taking 2-18 and Danny 3-16. Paraparaumu were eventually bowled out for 146.
In the intermediate game Rongotai batted first but probably wished they hadn’t as they were skittled for 30 runs. Reece Edgecombe took 3-5 and Matthew Cottle took 2-1. In the Newlands innings, Extras top scored with 19 runs as Newlands won the game inside 8 overs.
