Newlands were victorious in the 2 games of cricket that took place at the weekend.
In the 1st XI game versus St Pats, Silverstream 2nd XI, the opposition were bowled out for 181 with Alex Chafe taking 3 – 25 and in reply Tahana Firmin (79) and Pasan Pahalawatt (66 n/o) steered Newlands to a comfortable 9 wicket victory.
Our intermediate side started the season as they finished last season with a good win against Rongotai. A number of bowlers starred in the Rongotai innnings: Quinn Holland 3-16, Michael Taylor 2 – 4, Gerald Chaudhary 2 -7. In reply Danny Chafe scored 50 not out as Newlands won by 6 wickets.
Unfortunately both the Junior and 2nd XI games were cancelled as the opposition defaulted.
