4 Newlands students attended the recent North Island Athletics Championship. Here are their results.
Zyrus Grace was 3rd in the senior boys high jump with 1.85m. This is a great achievement bearing in mind Zyrus only took up the sport this year and was jumping without high jump spikes.

Kushla Smith was 5th in the junior girls 300m as well as 2nd in the Junior Girls 4 x 100m relay. Kushla also was part of the Senior Girls 4 x 400m relay team which finished 5th.
Miya Pene- Johnston had to deal with horrible wet weather in her first National level competition and finished 15th in the Junior Girls triple jump. Like Zyrus she only started the event this year.
Lateefah Idris was 11th in the Intermediate girls Javelin.
