Newlands College First XI played Onslow in the first of what we hope will be many traditional cricket games on Saturday. Onslow play in 2 grades higher than our First XI.
Newlands batted first and posted 169 with great contributions from Ryan Collins (47 no) and Preetam Mehta (30).
Onslow posted 170 after a tense end to the game where Newlands had Onslow 153/9 needing 17 runs from the last wicket.
Bowling was very good with both Matthew Cottle (3-50 off 10) and William Kirby (3-20 off 8) leading the charge.
The game was closer than many expected given the grade difference and well done to our team for going so close.
We are planning a T20 later this term mid week so look out for that and come to support the boys.
