Silver Fern legend Sandra Edge visited Newlands yesterday to facilitate a KiwiSport ‘Getting Started in Coaching’ workshop organised by Regional Sports Trust, Sport Wellington. This was provided for all the students involved in coaching our netball, basketball and rugby teams.
The course is designed to provide an opportunity for coaches to develop their general coaching skills and their confidence to provide a positive coaching experience for the children they coach. It aims to teach basic introductory coaching concepts while providing an insight into what coaching is and how to effectively coach at this level.
Students came away with some new ideas on how they could run trainings for their team and hopefully some reassurance that they are doing a great job for their fellow students.
