Last Wednesday, the 12th McDonald’s Junior Triangular took place at Tawa College. The weather was far superior to what would have been faced the previous Thursday where underwater sports would have been more appropriate!
In the cross country the girls were leading for most of the race until one of the competitors suffered an asthma attack and whilst she battled bravely on the girls eventually finished 2nd. The boys also started well but eventually finished 3rd.
Our boys badminton team continued their success of last year to win the event whilst the girls came 3rd.
In Basketball, the boys were facing 2 premier grade teams but despite losing competed well. The girls took the first game against Onslow before losing to a very strong Tawa team.
In football the boys like the basketball boys faced very strong opposition and lost both games whilst the girls won a tight game 3-2 against Onslow before losing to overall winners Tawa.
Both the boys and girls hockey teams struggled as they came up against far more experienced teams.
The girls continued their dominance of the netball winning both the Y9 and Y10 events.
So at the end of the day Tawa defended their crown with 32 points, with Onslow 2nd with 22 points and Newlands 3rd with 18 points.
Despite the outcome, everyone enjoyed the day which was played in a good spirit and roll on Onslow in 2016.
